Bulgogi
Korea's Delicious Meat Foods
Bulgogi is one of the traditional foods representing Korea
with sliced beef marinated in a sauce and baked.
Bulgogi is known to originate from the Goguryeo
and it was then a food to grill seasoned meat on fire.
After Buddhism was designated as a state religion in the Goryeo Dynasty,
it disappeared for a while due to the custom of prohibiting meat-eating.
In the end of the Goryeo period, under the control of Mongolia,
it began to be eaten again as a different Mongolian name.
In the 1800s, cooking utensils such as grills and grates were used,
and they were developed into nubyans,
which are indirectly baked by using a grill.
This is leading to the present Bulgogi
which is loved widely by Koreans and foreigners.
Bulgogi has been developed in various forms
depending on the cooking method and region.
The most common way is to bake and eat
after marinating meat in a sauce made of soy sauce, sugar, pear juice, etc.,
but there is case to add only a portion of salt to enjoy the original flavor of the meat.
When it is baked with broth,
vegetables and beans may be added
and the broth may be poured over and over again.
We eat boiled rice after mixing broth on the grill.
