Korea Tour : Mt. Seorak, National Park In Gangwon-do
With an area of 354.6㎢, Sulak mountain is a national park in Sokcho, Gangwon-do.
Daejeongbong (1,708m), the main peak, is one of the Taebaek mountain ranges and is the second highest mountain after Mt. Halla and Jirisan. Mt. Sorak is a place where the valleys, streams, green leaves and colored leaves make a superb view of the whole world.
Generally, it is composed of granite, but biotite granite, granite porphyry, granite gneiss, and red granite are also distributed in some places, and diorite and porphyry are partially exposed. The west side of the Inje Gun, the east side of Sokcho, Goseong County, Yangyang Gun is called the fringe.
It is composed of the valleys of Bukchon and Baekdam River basin that flows into Inje River. It goes to Baekdam-sa Valley, which is known as the most spectacular scenic spot in Bucheon-ri.
Nam Sulak is located at the southern end of Seoraksan National Park. The 5-colored stream flowing between Daecheong-bong and Mt. Bongsan has the Jukjeong valley, the five-color spring water, and the five-color hot spring. The Guilin area includes gold and silver rocks (boulder rocks), where the national road between Inje and Yangyang is severely curved and forbidden to be used for intrusion.
The area of Mt. Seolak was designated as the Natural Monument No. 171 in November 1965, it was announced as a park reserve in December 1973, and it was set as the 'Biosphere Reserve Area' by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
There are 939 kinds of plants in 94, 392, and 939 species including Sorak poppies, snow pine trees, bamboo trees, and snow bushes, and 25 kinds of mammals such as lynx fish, keel and black woodpecker, 11 reptiles, 9 amphibians and 360 insects.
